OCEAN CITY — A Lusby, Maryland man was charged with first-degree assault and sexual assault last weekend after he allegedly pulled a knife on a young man and sexually assaulted his sister at a nightclub for downtown miners.

At approximately 11:05 p.m. last Friday, officers from the Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) responded to a minor downtown nightclub for a reported assault. Nightclub staff had removed the suspect, identified as Justin Grabill, 19, of Lusby, Maryland, from the club and pulled a knife from his sweatpants pocket, according to police reports.

The club’s security staff informed officers that Grabill had threatened an individual in the establishment with the knife he was carrying, which is why he was kicked out, according to police reports. Grabill reportedly became extremely disorderly and resisted arrest. He continued to fight and refused to get into the transport van peacefully and eventually had to be placed in a violent person restraint, according to police reports.

OCPD officers interviewed a juvenile suspect involved in the alleged knife threat by Grabill, according to police reports. The child victim told police he was standing in the nightclub when Grabill approached him, pulled out the knife with the blade outstretched and pointed at him and asked the victim to return his mobile phone , according to police reports.

The victim told police that Grabill believed he took his phone, but the victim had never seen Grabill or his phone before, according to police reports. The victim said his back was against the wall and Grabill was standing about a foot in front of him with the knife blade pointed at him. The victim allegedly told police he feared Grabill was standing so close to him that he could have easily stabbed him, according to police reports.

The child victim allegedly told police he was in the nightclub with his child sister as she danced around the club. The young man told officers that Grabill approached his sister while she was dancing and grabbed her by the hips to pull her closer to him, according to police reports.

The young female victim confirmed to police that Grabill grabbed her from behind and began touching her through the outside of her shorts, according to police reports. The young woman allegedly told officers that Grabill made her extremely uncomfortable and scared, and that her friend was able to take her to another area of ​​the club.

Grabill was eventually arrested and charged with first and second degree assault, sexual assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and other charges.
