Irish Seabass of the Year winner revealed

The Irish Bar of the Year awards are now in their 17the year. The competition rewards excellence and innovation in the bar business.

BAR 1661, an independent cocktail bar located in Dublin 7, has won the Irish Bar of the Year 2022 award. The awards were sponsored by Licensing World.

The winner was revealed at a gala ceremony hosted by Alan Shortt on Monday August 22 at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin.

As well as winning Best Bar in Ireland, Bar 1661 also won Gold for Innovative Bar of the Year and Bronze for Cocktail Bar of the Year.

Dave Mulligan, owner and founder of BAR 1661 said: “This is a huge reward for our team, who have worked tirelessly for over two years to bring BAR 1661 to unrivaled standards.

“A shared love of Irish cocktail bars and spirits drives us to be the best we can be and shining the spotlight on poitín is worth it. Winning Bar of the Year is an incredible achievement for indie cocktail culture.

He then went on to say: “When we opened in April 2019, our mission was to give our sometimes maligned national spirit the home it deserves, to elevate Irish cocktail culture and create a place for locals. and visitors.”

The winning bar is located in Dublin 7. Having opened in 2019, the team are set to launch an ambitious new cocktail menu next month.

The menu of the year will consist of 32 signature cocktails. Each cocktail is inspired by a pivotal moment in Irish drinking history from 1661 to the present day.

BAR 1661 competed against 500 other bars in Ireland to win the ultimate Irish Bar of the Year award.

Returning after a two-year hiatus due to COVID, the Bar of the Year Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the licensed beverage trade.

The winners of the other categories were diverse across the country. The Tack Room at Adare Manor in County Limerick won the Cocktail Bar of the Year award.

RIOT Bar in Dublin has been awarded Late Bar/Nightclub of the Year. Meanwhile, Piglet Wine Bar in Dublin has won Wine Bar of the Year.

Dolan’s Pub in Limerick has been named the overall winner of the Dingle’s Gin People’s Choice Award. It was a public voted award.
