(San Francisco, California) – On the heels of news that Mikkeller Beer has closed its San Diego brick-and-mortar brewery, Mikkeller announces the closure of its second US outpost, Mikkeller Bar SF (San Francisco). Here is their statement.
As Mikkeller San Diego continues to restructure, Mikkeller’s original US outpost, Mikkeller Bar San Francisco, is finally closing after nine years.
“Mikkeller Bar San Francisco was the second Mikkeller Bar we opened and the start of our entire operation in the United States, so this place means something very special to us and of course it’s very sad to have to say goodbye. But we will always have a presence in the United States and we will continually strive to make great beer and great experiences,” says Mikkel Bjergsø, founder and creative director of Mikkeller.
The gastropub in the heart of the Tenderloin has hosted many events and guests over the years with constantly rotating draft beers from around the world. The bar has seen many iterations and renovations transforming the old nightclub with various design elements from the Mikkeller Creative team. The Mikkeller Bar San Francisco was one of three remaining Mikkeller establishments in California, now replaced by the Tasting Room in the Little Italy neighborhood of downtown San Diego.
The Mikkeller San Francisco Bar is now closed effective the second week of October 2022. We hope the future owners of Mission Street Bar will continue to honor this space and its world-class beers.
