Norfolk City Council will hold a meeting on Tuesday regarding the future of Legacy Lounge

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk City Council is set to hold a meeting regarding the future of the Legacy Restaurant and Lounge.

10 On Your Side’s Brett Hall has learned that the city council, along with the planning commission, will hold the meeting on Tuesday, September 12 and possibly vote to revoke the establishment’s nightclub license for “non-compliance conditions contained in the permit.”

The reunion comes more than a month after a shooting outside Legacy injured 4 people including a Norfolk sheriff’s deputy.

Tyshawn M. Gray, 25, of Norfolk, has since been charged in connection with the shooting. Gray was charged with one count of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, three counts of malicious wounding, four counts of using a firearm and one count of discharging a firearm. a gun in public.

After the shooting, Norfolk City Manager Chip Filer said downtown establishments should not claim immunity for actions that occur outside their establishment and that they should s expect to be called upon to speak to the city council about why their business should stay in the area.
