Suspect arrested in Bloomington bar shooting

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Police arrested a 27-year-old man for a shooting at a Bloomington nightclub last month.

Washington was arrested Monday at a house in South Magnolia Court and is being held on felony charges of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery and criminal recklessness.

Investigators said Washington allegedly had an altercation with a 41-year-old man inside Kalao, at which time the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired several shots into the bar. He fled before the police arrived.

Police believe there was only one shooter inside the club.

Shortly after the shooting in Kalao, police received a call about a gunshot victim in a parking lot near 6th and Lincoln streets.

Officers responding to the scene found a 26-year-old man in the passenger seat of a car with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police believe the shooting occurred in an alley near Kalao in the area of ​​Kirkwood Avenue and Sixth Street.

At this time, investigators have yet to determine if there is a connection between the shootings at the club and in the alley.
